Meet the Founder of KJ Counselling Services
Katea is the heart behind KJ Counselling Services. Currently completing her final year of a Psychology degree at Mount Royal University, she plans to pursue her Master’s in Counselling at the University of Calgary.
With over four years of academic training and a deep understanding of human behaviour, Katea blends research-based knowledge with lived experience — offering a grounded, compassionate perspective that informs everything she does.
Raised in foster care from the age of 1 to 18, Katea knows what it’s like to feel unseen, unsupported, and unsure of where to turn. At 18, she became fully independent — and made herself a promise:
“If I do anything in this life, it will be to help others feel seen, supported, and safe.”
That promise became KJ Counselling Services — a space designed for people who are struggling but don’t know where to begin.
Now, as the founder, Katea leads with care and intention. She personally selects each registered counsellor on her team, ensuring they are not only highly qualified, but also deeply empathetic and client-centred. She knows what to look for in a therapist — because she’s been on both sides of the journey.
At KJ Counselling Services, you’re not just matched with any therapist — you’re thoughtfully paired with someone who truly understands.
Because everyone deserves to feel heard, supported, and empowered.
